Rājā yogas ||35||

The treatise on the application of the Raja ( yogas ), from which those yogas of the lords of men, particularly the birth of those, are to be considered, I will indeed declare those.
With three (planets), etc. situated in one’s own exaltation or (mūla)trikoṇa zodiac sign joined to strength there is a lord of men born in the family of a lord of the earth. With five (planets), etc., it is also accomplished arising from the common people. With those abandoned (with only one or two planets in the previous mentioned placements); one is similar to a lord of the earth, but not a guardian of the earth.
With those situated in one’s own exaltation dwelling in the sky with malefics, the lord of the Yavanas declares cruel behavior with the lord of earth born from prowess. But it is not a lord of men in the opinion spoken by Jīvaśarman. With those yogas of the lord of men, the guardian of the kingdom is honored.
Here among those yogas which are of the lords of the earth, those are inevitable [even for] men of a low-class family. I will initially declare those, as considered by the authors of the treatises.
With all or three of the Sun, Mars, Saturn, and Jupiter situated in one’s own exaltation with one of those in the lagna, those numerous are manifested with a series born of a total of sixteen. With two when the lagna is with one of those and when the Moon is in one’s own zodiac sign, again the total are sixteen and even born into a low-class family. Thus, the appearance of the kingdom is like a garden.
The ascendant in the navāṃśa of the lagna in the best of the series (vargottma) or also the Moon in the best of the series (vargottma) and aspected by four planets other than the Moon, then there should be a low-born lord of men.
With those planetary lords of the Moon, Mars, and Jupiter situated in Aries located in the lagna, a lord related to the earth is born and the ruler of the whole earth of the circumference of the ocean everywhere surrounded by killed enemies yells.
When Jupiter is in one’s own exaltation while Mars is situated in Aries in the lagna or when Jupiter is with Mars in the rising of Aries, then he should be the lord of the earth and the army of the enemy of that [lord of the earth] should never dwell in the presence of female companions and peers.
The Moon together with Venus and Jupiter in the eleventh house and Mars situated in one’s own exaltation, and if Saturn should be situated in Capricorn and Mercury should be in Virgo; then it is inevitable that one should be a clever sovereign with much understanding.
If the Moon is situated in the lagna adorned with a multitude of full-blown beams in one’s own zodiac sign, the son of the Moon (Mercury) in the seventh house, the Sun situated in the sixth house, Venus in the fourth house, Jupiter in the tenth house, and Saturn and Mars in the third house; one should be a virtuous guardian of the earth who has the imperishable waxing of the Moon and the prosperity of a sovereign.
When the Moon is equal to the abode of the ocean (full) in one’s own exaltation in the lagna when the son of the Sun (Saturn) is in Aquarius, and if the Sun is in Leo, and the lord of words (Jupiter) is in Scorpio with brilliant pulsating beams; then the lord of men is with abundant prosperity and many conveyances.
Thus, when Saturn is in Capricorn in lagna, the Moon is situated in Pisces, Mars is situated in the zodiac sign of Mercury having exempted Virgo, Mercury in Virgo, and Jupiter in Sagittarius; then one should be a lord of the earth with greatness attained equal to the lord of the divine.
When the Moon in Pisces is caused to rise, Mars is in exaltation when the Sun is situated in Leo, and Saturn is situated in Aquarius; one should become a lord of men abounding in all practical arts.
When Mars is in the lagna and the full Moon is in the seventh house, then one is an invincible sovereign with enemies when joined by the means of the Veda with those hundred repetitions.
The Sun in the lagna in exaltation situated together with the Moon causes the appearance of such producing delight with all eyes. This is unprecedented within memory. Even the fire of grief of the women of the enemy drenched with perpetual tears verily and greatly blazes in the heart.
If Venus is in Aquarius, Mars is in Aries, and Jupiter is in one’s own exaltation, one should certainly be a sovereign shining with one’s own fame in all directions.
Jupiter with the brilliance of heated gold caused to rise in exaltation, the Sun situated in the tenth house; and the Moon, Mercury, and Venus in Taurus is a lord related to the earth when born. Everywhere the earth is defeated by one’s own hand of whoever the man is.
If the venerable Moon with an abundance of rays is in the first half of the Sagittarius, Saturn united with great strength is in the lagna, and Mars is in one’s own exaltation; then there is a lord of the earth. Having considered heroism with powerful fire the burnt enemies of whom make obeisances from great fear.
Then if those benefics are united situated in the sixth, seventh, and eighth house from the Moon and those are not placed in the dwelling of malefics at the exclusion of the place of the Sun, he should be a guardian of the earth with those born from end of forest of the sea-shore of whichever ocean. Flowing fragrant secretion from the temples of elephants in rut of an army of intoxicated war elephants is constantly drunk by large black bees.
One does not quickly attain old age, one does not experience fear from the enemy, and the born should be possessing fortitude, good fortune, and comfort in this Adhiyoga.
Mercury which is in one’s own exaltation in the lagna, Jupiter and the Moon situated in Pisces, Mars and Saturn in Capricorn, and Venus situated in the zodiac sign of Gemini; thus he, a supporter of the earth delighted in detrimental destruction of the enemy should bring about a world deprived of light by the dust of a multitude of marching elephants.
If Jupiter with the Sun is situated in Leo, Saturn is situated in Aquarius, the Moon is in Taurus, the son of the earth (Mars) is in Scorpio, Mercury is in Gemini2 , and the rising up is in the lagna of Aries, indeed he is a lord of men.

With Jupiter, Mercury, and Venus situated in the angles with those joined to Saturn, the Sun, and Mars from one’s own zodiac sign, and the Moon being situated in one’s own exaltation causes a lord of men to be born obtaining fame done without stain. Also, the venerable Sun situated in the lagna in deep exaltation is a venerable lord of the earth of which the armies guard the water from the four seas united to the moving of food by those ebbs and flows.
If the sixth house is with all those among a movable navāṃśa, an enemy of prosperity and a diseased body is caused to rise. When a benefic planet is in one’s own (zodiac sign) in the lagna and malefics are not situated in angles, there is a lord of men.
If Venus, Jupiter, and Mercury aspects the full Moon and the lord of the lagna is possessed of great strength with the ninth (portion) vargottama in the lagna, indeed one should be a lord of the earth.
The planetary lords of three, etc. situated in angles in vargottama and a cruel comet and malefics not joined to benefics, those kindly disposed produce the offspring of a sovereign.
Indeed, if a single planet is in one’s own exaltation or situated in vargottama possessed of strength and aspected by a friend, it produces a lord of the earth.
Those situated in the head rising zodiac signs and those not united in an enemy varga , the full Moon in one’s own zodiac sign in the lagna aspected by benefics, it should give the earth with an abundance of gems, elephants, and horses.

Indeed, if all those planetary lords of brilliant form are situated in deep exaltation aspected by friends and those not situated in transit of the aspects from the enemies, certainly armies with advancing calvaries of the lord of the earthen should engage in violence with enemies with those thunderous and foremost oppositions, of which the earth trembles.
If the Moon is situated in deep exaltation and is aspected by Venus with malefics situated in āpoklimas (3rd, 6th, 9th, and 12th houses), it should produce an all pervading lord of the earth.
If the lords of the zodiac sign of the janman and lagna are in a zodiac sign of one’s own angle aspected by those giving auspiciousness and by friends, and not aspected by enemies or malefics, or [conquered] in a planetary war; thus one should become a lord of the earth. When the rising of the Moon is in the ninth from the lord of one’s own zodiac sign, the splendour of which is gone to that related to the four directions with large black bees desirous of the rut dripping from elephants.
The horā ( lagna) of which should be the zodiac sign of exaltation, in one’s own aṃśa (portion), or in an aṃśa (portion) of friendship or exaltation and aspected by benefics situated in angles, then this produces a lord of men.
